Today I got to see a privately owned collection of almost a dozen Kissels, in Michigan. Id netvwr heard of the brand before.

What an absolute gem of a video. I've been a Hartford resident for about 12 years and I also happen to be a cable guy and history buff. I regularly go into the old buildings downtown for work and it never ceases to fascinate me the stories the walls might hold (also frustrating trying to install cable in 100 yr old buildings). It was interesting hearing the names of the founders that became street names and try to visually match the old photos of buildings and places with what I'm familiar with. This was a very well done video, bravo!

Its a nice museum to visit....

I was expecting Hartford Connecticut on this.I realized that it was not in Connecticut when the narrator mentioned Connecticut Blvd being in Hartford when in actuality it is across the river in East Hartford.

This video plays at the museum as well. I hear it whenever I am working on the 1949 Showroom Layout replica there, but never really have time to actually watch the video, so it's nice to actually 'see' this finally.

My Great Uncle Joseph Donat worked for Kissel from about 1924 to 1928. He started out as a pattern maker and later as a Draftsman/designer He worked there until he got seriously hurt in a Auto accident while visiting his brother in Minnesota in 1928.

Wrong Hartford for me… I was expecting Hartford “Connecticut”

I have an old photo of my great-grandmother, her daughter and other relatives all sitting on top of their Kissel car on their farm in Black Creek Wisconsin. It was their pride and joy.

Kissel them goodbye.

My Dad and his family lived in Montana for a while during the 1930’s. I recall his telling me they had a neighbor who owned a ‘28 Kissel.

My (1978) high school football coach was a big burly guy named Norbert Kissel who was a descendant of this family.
